Casa di Frutta is a two and a half hour drive from one of the most stunning Greek archaeological sites in the world – The Valley of the Temples. In Sicilian: Vaddi di li Tempri, is located in Agrigento, Sicily. Agrigento is built on the ancient Greek City of Akragas.
This site is one of the most outstanding examples of Greek art and architecture anywhere and is one of the main attractions of Sicily. It is a national monument of Italy.
The area was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1997. Much of the excavation and restoration of the temples was due to the efforts of archaeologist Domenico Antonio Lo Faso Pietrasanta (1783–1863), who was the Duke of Serradifalco from 1809 through 1812.
The archaeological park and landscape of the Valley of the Temples is the largest archaeological site in the world situated on over 2,600 acres overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. It is a magnificent site… and sight.
Because of the distance and size of the site you should consider it more than a day trip if possible. If you do go we have identified a bed and breakfast in Agrigento that we can recommend.
